Where is Lore based?

Lore is based in Southern California.

Can you tell me more about Lore and its founders?

Our lore began when Tam and Linn (co-workers, turned friends, turned co-founders) bonded over dissociating with romantasy books to escape the real world. We started joking about starting a romantasy-inspired Kindle case business with a dark and moody edge—and then took that silly little joke a little more seriously, turning Lore into reality! Who better to start a romantasy-inspired business than two co-founders whose names, when combined, become Tamlinn—well, actually, we can think of a few other characters we’d rather be named after…but here we are!

How long does it take to get a response to my email?

You know those memes about our bodies not understanding the difference between receiving an email and being chased by a tiger in the woods? Well that’s US–we are a pair of anxious girlies! But, we’re working on it. We’ll do our best to reply within 48 hours during the week and ~ occasionally ~ we’ll respond on the weekends. Your patience with us is much appreciated!

Shipping & Order Information

How long does it take for my order to ship?

To be completely honest, we’re just two girls, and we’re still figuring this out! We’re super excited to see where this adventure takes us, and right now, we’re working hard to fulfill orders within 2-3 business days

However, as a small business, we don’t have the same speed as the big corporations (Tam & Linn are the magical elves working hard behind the scenes!). Packing and shipping timelines may take a little longer than what you might experience with larger retailers, and we’re beyond grateful for your patience as we work to get your order to you.

We’ll update this space as we get a better sense of our order flow and how to improve our process, so stay tuned for more info in the future! We also always welcome feedback on your Lore experience (as long as it includes a spot of praise to satisfy our need to be told “good girl” on occasion)

Do you offer international shipping?

Our cases aren't quite ready for international journeys, but we're working on it! Stay tuned for updates. 

I need my order like…tomorrow! What can I do?

If you need your case by a specific date, we highly recommend ordering with plenty of time in advance to account for any potential delays. We're doing our best to get everything shipped quickly, but we want to ensure your expectations are met!

What shipping methods do you offer?

We’re currently offering $3 basic shipping through USPS, but are going to ~circle back~ with more details on other shipping methods…figuring out our shipping process has been a hands-on learning experience (and unfortunately, not in the fun and fictional spicy way). 

What should I do if I accidentally entered the wrong shipping details?

Email us ASAP at support@shopforthelore.com with the subject line “Shipping Address Update: [order #].” We’ll get back to you with an update as soon as possible. Please note that once your order is shipped, no changes or updates are possible. 

My tracking says my package was delivered, but I haven’t received it. What should I do?

Occasionally, tracking systems update prematurely and sometimes, packages are marked as delivered a little earlier than they actually arrive. If it’s been more than 48 hours, please contact us at support@shopforthelore.com.

What are my options if I accidentally order the wrong size?

Oh no! We get it—sometimes even heroines make mistakes. Unfortunately, we are unable to send a replacement if the wrong size is ordered. Our shop policy requires that you acknowledge you’ve checked your Kindle’s size before purchasing, so please double-check those measurements before placing your order.

If you’ve realized the mistake after ordering, we recommend keeping an eye on our future designs or sizes, as we may be able to help you with a new order for the correct one. We’re a small business, so unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to exchange sizes at this time, but we’ll do our best to guide you to the perfect fit on your next purchase!

What should I do if my item arrives damaged or defective?

While we never want your new case to arrive in anything less than perfect condition, we understand that your messenger raven occasionally may drop your package and accidentally damage it! If your Lore case does arrive a little worse for wear, please contact us at support@shopforthelore.com and include your order number as well as a photo of the damage so our team can assist you with a resolution.

Returns and Exchanges

What is your return and exchange policy?

At this time, please note that all sales are final. There’s no turning back to the enchanted forest once you've claimed your treasure! View our full refund policy here.

While there are no returns, exchanges, or spells to change your mind, we hope your new case brings you joy and keeps your Kindle safe on all your literary adventures!

How can I figure out which Kindle case size I need? What Kindle case sizes do you offer?

Here’s how to check your device size:

  1. Open "All Settings" on your Kindle dashboard.
  2. Tap "Device Options" and then "Device Info."
  3. Your Kindle model and size will be listed at the top.

What’s included with my Kindle case?

Every Kindle case is accompanied by a free velvet pouch, as well as other freebies, like stickers. Please note that these freebies are not guaranteed and may change in design or style.  

Is it possible to purchase an extra pouch?

Not at this time, but we love the idea! If you're interested in adding one of our pouches to your collection in the future, we recommend signing up for our newsletter—we might just have some magical surprises in store as we grow our business!

Do all Kindle cases include a built-in hand strap?

All cases include built-in hand straps for a more comfortable reading experience!

Are your Kindle cases resistant to water?

Lore Kindle cases are water resistant, but not waterproof! Please handle your case with care, as we will be unable to replace a case damaged in the heat of battle (of bodies or swords).

Do your cases support the auto sleep/wake function?

Yes, when opening the front cover, your Kindle will awaken from its dreamless sleep…and return when you curse, ahem, close the case again.

Do your cases have a magnet on the back?

Yes, every case has a back magnet that will secure the front cover to the back cover when folded open (yay!).

How do I care for my Kindle case?

To care for your Lore Kindle case like you would your favorite dagger, we recommend wiping it down with a soft, damp cloth. The more care you take with it, the longer it will maintain its beauty!

Product Updates & Collaborations 

How often do you release new designs?

As much as we’d love to release new designs faster, we’re just getting started and taking our time to make sure every design is as magical as it can be! We’ll be releasing new styles a few times a year (hopefully), but since it’s just the two of us working away on our own, we also balance our time with full-time jobs and attempting to keep our TBR list from spiraling out of control!

Thanks for your patience and understanding as we create new designs with the care and attention they deserve, all while squeezing in a little time to read (that is how Lore started after all!).

How often do you restock?

The short answer: we’re still figuring this out! 

The long answer: As we’re a small but mighty team, we’re currently gauging interest in our cases and tracking how quickly our current stock sells out. We’re also coordinating production timing with our manufacturers, which means restocking schedules will be a bit fluid as we grow.

If there’s a size or design you’re interested in that’s currently sold out, please don’t hesitate to let us know! We’ll make sure to note your interest as we scale up and work to bring those beloved cases back to life. How do I know when the Kindle case design and size I want is back in stock? 

If the case you’re interested in is sold out, please sign up for restock notifications on the product page! We’ll send you a message when it’s available again.

Do you offer discounts or sales?

We’re no strangers to the age-old quest for a bargain! As much as we’d love to offer sales as often as we turn (or tap) to the next page in a good book, we don’t hold discounts or sales very often. As a small business, every single sale is an important chapter in our story, helping us continue to create the magical products you love. Your support means as much to us as a good map at the beginning of a book—thank you for shopping small.

(However, we are fans of a good plot twist and will never say never to a special promotion!) 

Will you be expanding your product range to fit other e-readers?

We’d like to in the future! If you’re looking for a device that we don’t currently offer, reach out and let us know.
